CHRIS WILLIAMS posted a condolence

I have known David for the longest time. He was a frequent guest at the Williams home at events or birthdays. He always stayed to the end and was always welcome. He had two major super powers and more. He had the power not to forget. He would recite a step by step journey off trail and up the mountain for the last 44 years like it was yesterday. Or he would summarize his relationship with each of the Williams. He also had the power of charm. I asked him where that came from. I will miss him. And now he is the first in our generation to remind us that time is passing.... that in the end what matters is us. Our family. Our friends. That what ever wealth we aquired matters little. It is the we in us that counts.

I arrived in Seattle/Tacoma area late summer in 1982 with a goal of obtaining my law degree at University of Puget Sound School of Law. I knew nothing about the area nor did I know a single person. To say I was insecure and intimidated was an understatement. I met Dave the first day of orientation at the school and we became fast friends and roommates. We spent a great deal of time together hiking the Cascades, drinking beer and visiting his friends he met at Seattle U. During our time spent together during law school I can truly say I never saw Dave in a bad mood or unhappy for more than 20 minutes! He was font of good cheer and passed his confidence on to others in his life including me. Although we went our separate ways after law school I still considered Dave one of my best friends and an all around fabulous person! I was devastated to learn of his passing and the fact that I did not even know he was ill. Dave showed me the ropes when I came to Tacoma and I hope if I make it "upstairs" he will do the same there. I am sure Dave was a great husband, father and friend and the world is a sadder place following his passing. Rest in peace my friend! JGS

So very many memories of Dave, always positive, always kind, and oh so funny! I met Dave about 40 yrs ago, and through dating my then boyfriend who was one of his closest friends. I instantly liked him, and deemed him my “favorite “. I am so thankful I was able to reconnect with Dave recently at my daughters wedding in Thailand. There is this beautiful photo of the two of them, heads close together, (beers in hand, but out of sight), that will always make me smile. I will always carry the touching memories of our youthful shenanigans, we lived life to the fullest, and Dave was always front and center in those pursuits. Sending you off with love Dave, but holding on to those precious moments we all shared. Pam M.

Dave was a friend and colleague of mine at The Andover Company. We shared a creative perspective in Real Estate and I admired his tenacity and ability. I'm sure all of my former colleagues and partners at the company share my sadness at losing him. He will be missed. Kevin O'Brien

Hard to express how grateful I am to have spent the better part of 18 years with Dave at Andover. He was the reason I went there after spending 6 1/2 years at other companies. More than a partner, Dave was a great friend, mentor and story teller. While driven at work, what I learned from Dave had a lot more to do with the importance of family, not apologizing for spending time with the people we love and the memories we make. Dave lived it. Oftentimes mentors like to say, "Do as I say, not as I do." That wasn't Dave. He said it and he did it. He celebrated other people's adventures almost more than his own. His energy and his positive attitude were contagious. I loved being around him and listening to what he had planned next. I came across a picture today of my youngest son caught in an unplanned moment. I'm sure Dave would appreciate it because it embodied him - not so much the action but the art in the background - "Live Life." Dave, I'll miss you more than words allow. Thank you for being such a great friend, mentor, partner and life coach. Much love. Brian B.
