Obituary of John Brent Petersen

John Brent Petersen 51, of Lynnwood, Washington, passed away on February 10, 2022, unexpectedly. John was born on August 18, 1970 to Robert Kenneth Petersen, Jr. and Jeannine Petersen (Simone) in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in Edmonds, Washington with his two brothers and four sisters. He spent his childhood playing sports, delivering newspapers as a paperboy, and enjoying the pop culture of the 70s and 80s. John had great taste in music and entertainment. John graduated from Woodway High School in 1988, where he participated on the cross-country, tennis, and wrestling teams. He also amassed an impressive baseball trading card collection throughout his youth. John had great pride in being a part of the production of the first ever Ken Griffey, Jr. chocolate bar by Pacific Trading Cards in 1989. In his adulthood, John enjoyed traveling and going to the horse races at Longacres and Emerald Downs with his brothers, but he loved spending time with his family more than anything. John was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He was the sweetest guy with the biggest heart, and although soft-spoken, he was quietly charming. He had a long memory, despite suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident when he was nineteen. John was always thinking – his brain never stopped churning out ideas and he was always thoughtful when it came to others. Everyone who knew John knew that he was extremely generous, gentle and kind. He was an easy-going guy, with a genuine smile. He wanted the best for everyone around him, and he always made everyone feel happy when they were with him. John will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly by all. John is survived by his parents, Bob and Jeannine Petersen, brothers Jim Petersen and Joe (Marti) Petersen, sisters Jill (Travis) Rogers, Jenifer (Troy) McVicker, Julie (Justin) Branch, Jodi (Chris) Minaker, and several cherished nieces and nephews: Makenna and Chase Petersen, Victor, Ariella and Lucas Mendevil, Jackson and Gabby Rogers, Joie and Paisley Branch, and Chloe, Whitney and Brooks Minaker. The family respectfully asks for no flowers or gifts.
