Obituary of Scott Lane Johnson

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, Scott Lane Johnson, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 77. He was surrounded in love by his wife and children. Scott was born on June 2, 1944 to Larry and Barbara (Bryson) Johnson. He graduated from John Muir High School in 1962. Scott went on to serve in the Navy as a Seaman on the USS Forster during the Vietnam War and was a decorated veteran. He went on to receive degrees from San Diego State University and a JD from Southwestern Law School. While he practiced law for the rest of his career, his passion was in real estate development and he was a successful businessman. On February 12, 1972, Scott married the love of his life, Kay Knuppel. They raised three children, Kelly, Christine and Brian, in Corralitos, California after moving from Los Angeles. Scott and Kay also lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for several years and then moved to Edmonds, Washington in their retirement. Scott was a very intelligent person. He had a love of new ideas and learning that meant he was always searching and researching. Scott was a man who lifted up his community whether it was supporting the boys from his Athletico Soccer team to being President of the Chamber of Commerce of Watsonville to being active in Watsonville’s Rotary Club. He donated his time and his heart to making the community he lived in a better place for all. He loved his family and his pets from childhood until his final days. Scott’s laughter and humor lifted up many. He will be remembered for the jokes he loved to tell, the fact that he had an answer for everything and was usually right, and his unwavering loyalty to friends and family. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Larry, and his mother, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Kay, his sister, Lindy, his daughter Kelly and son in law Jeff Davidson along with their two children (Erin and Finn), his daughter Christine and son in law Gavin Martin along with their two children (Bryce and Sierra), and his son Brian and daughter in law Kathryn Johnson along with their three children (Keola, Emma, and Aidy). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Edmonds, Washington. Please contact the family for details.
