Obituary of David Andrew Card

David passed in his sleep due to Alzheimer's disease.

 

David Andrew Card was one of 5 children.  He was preceded in death by his wife Ayvon, parents Roy and Florence and Sister Ann, Brothers Richard, Donald (his twin), and Roy JR.

 

David had two sons with his first marriage and raised two stepdaughters with his second wife, Ayvon.  David and Ayvon were married on June 21, 1980, in Reno, NV.

 

David is survived by sister-in-law Lois Card; sons David A. Card Jr. (Sharon) and George Card; step-daughters Catherine “Cat” Wilson (Bob) and Charlotte Recknagle (Tom); 2 granddaughters Jessica Croote (Chad, two great-grandchildren), and Sierra Card; and step-grandson Kenneth Recknagle; additional three step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.

 

David grew up in San Francisco, spending summers in Washington Skagit/Whatcom counties with family there.  He served in the US Air force from 1960-1964.  He earned an engineering associate's degree from DeVry University while working in a machinist apprenticeship at Hunters Point, California.  After completing his training in 1967, he quit and moved to Port Orchard, Washington, and started working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard shop 31.  He left PSNS in the mid-1980’s working in real estate and his rental properties with Ayvon at his side.

 

David had various hobbies, hiking, rebuilt and customized old Chevy and GMC trucks, remodeling homes, and gardening.  He loved living and being on the water at his favorite home on the Manchester waterfront at Rich Passage.  

 

There will not be any public services.  No Flowers; donations to Christian charity of choice in his memory.
