Obituary of Devin Skylar Post

Devin Skylar Post of West Seattle, 38, died on May 20, 2023 at home due to an infection.

He was born on March 19, 1985 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada to David Alan Post and the former Emma Lou Reynolds. He was a dual Canadian/American citizen. He was a practicing Buddhist of more than 20 years, concerned most with enlightened compassion. He lived in Toronto, ON; Harlingen, TX; Tempe, AZ; and the city of Ballard.

In 2000 he earned his GED certificate with the year’s highest score in Washington state. He enjoyed culinary arts at North Seattle Community College, and received his AA degree in 2010 from South Seattle College with a certificate in welding.

He worked as a fabricator, a marine welder’s helper on the modernization of the USS Chosin, and as a maintenance technician for local properties. He took special pride in improving houses in his community. Anyone experienced with their hands could tell how he loved to work. Sensitive of others, he was friendly and open to everyone, especially fellow laborers.

A highly intelligent and creative visual artist, mc, and hip-hop producer, his work lives on in public murals and beloved dragon sculptures adorning Seattle's Chinatown International District.

He is survived by his mother Emma Lou Puro, stepfather Ken Puro, his father David Post, siblings Tavis Post, Claude Puro and Marisol Casillas, beloved cousins Kat and Justin Boden, nephew Nathan A. Rainey, niece Natalia Serena Puro, and extended family. His playful, jovial presence is deeply missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on May 31 for immediate family at Beck’s Tribute Center in Edmonds, WA, followed by cremation. A Memorial Mass will be held for Devin at Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle at a date to be determined.
