Obituary of John Louis Miller

John L Miller, 84 was born 11-21-37 in Yakima WA and passed away peacefully at home 11-30-21. He is preceded in death by his daughter Tiare, survived by his wife Mary-Lynn, granddaughter Maile and great granddaughter Leilane from a previous marriage. John served in the United States Coast Guard as a Radioman retiring honorably in August of 1970. He later joined the Boeing Company as a mockup planner proudly working on the 747 and finally the 777 before retiring in 1993. John was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was a Knight of Columbus for over 30 years where he donated numerous hours of service to his church community. John was a quiet, humble man with a more than dry sense of humor, in fact, if you were to ever ask him, “how are you today? he would reply with, “I still have a pulse”! Also endearing was the amount of time it took him to open a wrapped birthday or Christmas gift since he had to use his mini-Swiss army knife and with the utmost precision, carefully pull up the tape without ripping the paper. While it felt like the process was a surgical procedure, we nonetheless grew to find this task kind of cute. If you knew John, you would know he had a passion for hunting and fishing and always looked forward to his annual trips to Blue Lake WA with his buddies. John had a generous and patient heart, he was supportive and didn’t run the other direction after acquiring 4 stepchildren later in life, he was christened “Papa John” and got to be a grandpa to a few more grandchildren. Today, we celebrate John’s life, and are reminded that although death may separate us physically, it does not end our relationship with whom we have lost, it simply changes form. We are all connected and share a strand of fabric that creates the tapestry we call life. Love…we must remember…never dies. Instead of saying “goodbye” today we say, “until we see you again” thank you for being a part of our lives John and for so many…a good and best friend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veteran’s Administration or Knights of Columbus.
