Obituary of Doreen Mildred King

Doreen M. King, age 79 of Edmonds, Washington passed away on November 7, 2008. She was born February 12, 1929 in Seattle, Washington to Chet Gibson and Mildred Maseott. Doreen is survived by her children, Carol (Michael) Bobbink, Jeanne King, Patricia Tullock; grandchildren: Shannon Birkhead, Matthew Bobbink, Brittany Bobbink, Nicholas Todd, Madison Todd; and great grandchildren: Joshua, Jasmine, Kayla and Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her children: Mary King, Johnnie King and her husband, John V. King. Doreen graduated from Edmonds High School. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Frank Freeze Post 66 where she was a past president. For many years she worked at Lynnwood Roll-A-Way Skating Rink where she was a mother to many kids growing up around the skating rink and bowling alley. She ran Gibson Sound and Lighting Co. after her fathers death until retiring and selling the company. She moved to Bellingham, Washington after her retirement to be closer to her children. She lived in Bellingham for 10 years before moving to her favorite place, Birch Bay. A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, at Becks Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds, (425) 771-1234. Private Interment, Lake View Cemetery in Seattle.
