Obituary of Leona Krask Young

Leona Krsak Young, born to Joseph and Elena Krsak on April 2, 1916, in Tyler, Washington, a community that always remained dear to her; she never forgot her roots. She passed away peacefully surrounded by many members of loving family on January 4, 2009, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA.Leona graduated from Tyler Grade School, Marycliff High School in Spokane, WA, and was one of the first women to attend from Seattle College (now Seattle University).She excelled as a laboratory technician. While working at Fort Lawton Hospital during World War II, she met U.S. Army Lt. Howard Young. They married in Seattle on July 22, 1945. Theirs was a true and abiding love, married for nearly 53 years. They raised a family, weathering the sad time when they were predeceased by their baby son, Norman James Young (1956-58). They owned and operated Medical Arts Laboratory in Seattle, WA, for over 25 years. They established and operated a sussful business in Snohomish County and travelled much of the world.Leona is also predeceased by husband, Howard and her brother, Henry Krsak.She is survived and dearly loved by daughters Judy Young and Ellanora Jaddi, son-in-law Ahmed Jaddi, son Stephen Young, daughter-in-law Cindy Young, grandsons Ty Grayson Matthew Young, Adnan, Rehan, and Salman Jaddi and granddaughter Sabica Jaddi; brothers Joseph and George Krsak, sisters Maryanne Anthony, Mae McVeigh and Ellen Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.Family and friends admired her keen intelligence, zest for life, grace, and her beautiful smile. She loved greatly and was greatly loved in return. She will be deeply missed.Family extends heartfelt thanks to Leonas caregivers during her final years, especially staff, volunteers and residents of Mercer Island Care and Rehabilitation Center, priests, ministries and parishioners of St. Monica Catholic Church.A Funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4301 88th Avenue SE, Mercer Island.Leona loved flowers, so they are appreciated. Donations in Leonas name to Seattle University or a charity of your choice are equally appreciated.
