Obituary of Levy Stuart Johnston

Levy was born July 9, 1925 in Olympia, Washington to Levy and Katherine Mottman Johnston. He died suddenly on June 28, 2009 at his home in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma Jean Johnston; son, Stuart Keith Johnston of Mountlake Terrace; daughter, Katy Johnston of Shoreline; sister June Martin of Massanutten, Virginia; granddaughter, Elia Johnston and her husband Sajid Husain; step-grandson, Jorge Jimeniz and wife Claudia, all of Mountlake Terrace.Levy graduated from William Winlock Miller High School in Olympia in 1943 and joined the US Marine Corp in the midst of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, including two Jima. After the war, Levy attended St. Martin College in Olympia, and received his law degree from Gonzaga University. He practiced law briefly with his father in Seattle before establishing a new law practice in Mountlake Terrace, which he continued until his retirement.Levy was an active member of the South Snohomish County community, being one of the incorporators of the City of Mountlake Terrace and then serving as the citys municipal judge and city attorney. He also served on the Edmonds School District 15 School Board and the Washington State Board of Education.Pursuant to his wishes, there will be no memorial services. A gathering of friends and family is planned for August 18, 2009 at the Nile Country Club in Mountlake Terrace.
