Obituary of Catherine Smith Knight

Catherine S. Knight of Edmonds, WA passed away on September 20, 2009 at her home. Catherine was born in Wenatchee, WA on September 23, 1917. She attended Oregon State University. Catherine married Cleve Edward Knight. She was a homemaker, then a secretary for a construction company. Catherine also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle, and later she volunteered at the Edmonds Log Cabin Information Center. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and walking in Edmonds. text-align: justify She is survived by her two children C. Edward Knight (Tamara) and Liz Knight Smalley (Ward); four grandchildren, Shidan Greene, Nabil Knight, Morgan Smalley, and Sheridan Smalley; one great-grandchild Eliana Greene; and her brother, Walter Smith, of Boise, ID. Her husband, Cleve E. Knight, preceded her in death. But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom ones deepest as well as ones most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort - the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. A Life for a Life, 1859
