Obituary of Ellis Eugene Jones

Ellis Eugene Jones passed peacefully on August 15, 2009 at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Catherine; sons, Daryl and Gary; daughter in law, Huian; granddaughter, Wenyi; and sister, Mildred. He was born June 2, 1923 to Ellis and Pearl Jones in Tacoma, Washington and spent most of his younger life in Spokane. Ellis graduated from Mead High School in Spokane and attended Washington State College where his studies were put on hold when he volunteered for the armed services during WWII. He served in the Army in the 11 th Airborne and spent most of his military service in the Philippines and Japan. After serving his country he returned to Washington State College where he graduated in 1952 with a bachelors degree in hotel and restaurant management. His professional career included Food Manager at the Imperial Hotel in Portland, OR; Food Director at John Ascuagas Nugget in Sparks, NV; General Manager of the Chinook Hotel and Convention Center in Yakima, WA and the last 19 years of his career as General Manager of the Rainier Club in Seattle where he retired in 1990.
