Obituary of Shelley Margaret Harris

Shelley Harris, 60, of Lynnwood , Washington , formerly of New Jersey , died at home on April 26, 2009 with her children at her side. Shelley had fought a long and courageous battle against leukemia. Shelley was born in Little Silver and lived in Baltimore and Towson , Maryland before moving to Sea Girt in 1956 and then Allenwood in 1960. She graduated from Wall High School in 1966 and attended George Washington University . She lived in Arizona , Belmar, Asbury Park , Ocean Grove and upstate New York before moving to Oregon in 1984 and Washington State in 1992. Shelley remained a Jersey girl at heart and returned every summer to visit family and enjoy the beach at Manasquan. She was an avid reader who easily read 200 books per year. Shelley was an outgoing and fun-loving person well-known for her infectious laugh. She remained cheerful and upbeat through hard times, always looked for the good in everyone, and was a devoted and loyal friend to many. For the past eight years Shelley worked at Virginia Mason Medical Center s Call Center where she will be sorely missed by her coworkers. Shelley is survived by her children, Alexandra, Thomas and Morgan Bennett, Alexandras partner, Casey Martin, and her granddaughter, Sequoia Martin. She is also survived by her parents, Collingwood Harris of Damascus, Maryland, and Geraldine Harris of Spring Lake; sister, Justine of Manalapan; brothers, Bill of Spring Lake, Mark of Brighton, Massachusetts, Rick of Monivea, Ireland, and Patrick of Burlington, Vermont; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Harris, Abbie Callanan and Alice Harris. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Lauren, Tyler, Julian, Liam and Cian as well as countless friends. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Edmonds Plaza Room at 650 Main Street , Edmonds Washington . A memorial service will also be held in New Jersey sometime this summer.
