Obituary of Eda Irene Harless

Eda Irene Harless passed peacefully, at age 94, in her home on February 21, 2009 of natural causes. She was born at home in Rapatee, IL, on July 31, 1914, one of 11 children. She and her family moved to Tieton, WA, in 1926. In 1930, she moved to Seattle, graduating from Roosevelt High School and then Metropolitan Business College. She married in 1939, and in 1948 she and her family moved to Lynnwood, WA, where she lived for 60 years. She was a gentle, kind, and unselfish woman who devoted her life to raising four sons by herself through all four college graduations, while working full-time. In 1963, she was given the first Mother of the Year award by Mountlake Terrace High School. She had a long professional career: four years at the Washington Egg and Poultry Cooperative, 16 years with Puget Sound Title Insurance, and 17 years with the Alderwood Water District. She then had a long, wonderful, and active retirement filled with family, friends, and church. She was able to relax and enjoy the many fruits of her labor. She loved animals, especially her horses and many dogs (most famously Schatze and Max). Her church and faith were vital to her throughout her long life. She is survived by her four sons: Wayne of Denver, CO; Dale (Karen) of Bellevue, WA; Keith (Sue) of Bend, OR; and Glenn of The Dalles, OR; as well as seven grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on February 27 th at the Edmonds Presbyterian Church, 22600 96th Ave W, Edmonds. As she valued education throughout her life, her memorial fund will be used to provide scholarships for graduating seniors from the Edmonds School District. Contributions can be sent to the Memorial Fund for Eda Harless at the Horizon Bank, Lynnwood WA. - Family of Eda Irene Harless
