Obituary of Monte William Jostrom

Monte Jostrom was born April 5, 1920 in Mound, Minnesota and died peacefully in his sleep in Edmonds on February 21, 2009 after nearly 89 years. Monte served in the navy in WWII and married Josephine Zainey in 1945. He and his wife established their family home in Edmonds in the house he built with help from friends. Monte owned and operated the Greenwood Furnace Company in Seattle. He was a well-known businessman in the Greenwood community for four decades. He was a big and gentle man who enjoyed working with his hands. He also enjoyed his family and friends and would occasionally emerge from his relative quietness with a hearty laugh or a spontaneous poem. He was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Jo, his children, Barbara (Larry Hoffman) and Michael (Susan), and his three grandsons, Ezekiel, Peter, and Gabriel.
