She was born on June 11, 1922 in Yorkton/Theodore, Saskatchewan , Canada . color: red; On Monday night Eleanor was with her daughter in Starbucks (as they so often were) enjoying her trademark tall non-fat latte. She passed away the next evening after a brief illness. It truly was just as she would have wished! Eleanor graduated from Toronto General as an R.N. in 1944and received her CRNA (Anesthesia) from Milwaukee General in 1957. She worked as a nurse anesthetist in Everett General until 1967 and then, Waldo Hospital in Seattle until she retired at age 62 in 1984. She has lived in Edmonds since 1982 moving to the downtown area in 1997 . Eleanor walked all over town and had her favorite places to drop in and chat a bit with shop owners. Lots of folks knew Eleanor and enjoyed her spunky banter! Eleanor was always available for people and as a result had many, many friends who cared deeply for her. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Lois LaShell, son-in-law Alan Guskin, from Edmonds, her son Paul Knapp (Karen) from La Jolla, CA, her beautiful granddaughters, Carrie LaShell from Walnut Creek, CA and Sarah Knapp. She raised her two children as a single parent with a strong emphasis on education helping her son receive his MD, and her daughter her Ph.D. Her devotion and care of her children and grandchildren was selfless and total. One of her greatest pleasures in life was being Nor Nor to Carrie, and Nana to Sarah. Her spiritual life was very important to her; she was a reader, a thinker, and loved to talk about spiritual issues, politics and other world events. Eleanor had a quick wit, always spoke her mind and developed, teasing, fun relationships everywhere she lived and worked. She was a resident at Edmonds Landing for the last 18 months.
