Obituary of Gorman Lee Orders, Jr.

margin: 5pt 0in Gorman Lee Orders, Jr., Lee, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Jan. 19, 2009 . He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janis; son, David (Karen); grandsons, Henry and Harrison; daughter, Linda Dodge ( Tracy ); granddaughter, Erin; and three sisters, Ruby, Rassie and Betty. Lee was born Dec. 3, 1931 in Morganton N.C. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Navy and served 4 years during the Korean War. His ship was in Korea , Japan , and the South Pacific. While his ship was at dock in Pearl Harbor he met Jan, who was on vacation after graduating from college. They knew instantly that they were meant to be together. When Lee was discharged from the Navy, they married, on May 1, 1954 . That fall, Lee entered the University of Washington and graduated in 1958 with a B.S. in electrical engineering. Upon graduation, he went to work for The Boeing Company and spe5 years working on programs in aerospace. margin: 5pt 0in Lee and Jan loved the mountains, the beach and boating. They traveled extensively and returned to Hawaii every year. Hawaii was not only a vacation spot for them but also a very special place where they had met and shared so many wonderful times. They spent all their free time together. Lee was a true animal lover. He and Jan have always had a dog and Yukon , their dog at this time, misses him greatly. margin: 5pt 0in Lee loved his family, his country, and his God. He will be in our hearts forever. We wish him a fond Aloha. margin: 5pt 0in A private family graveside service was held on Jan. 24. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at Becks Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave. S , Edmonds , WA at 1 p.m. margin: 5pt 0in In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations be given to The American Lung Association, Pasados Safe Haven, or the charity of your choice.
