Obituary of Joanne Lee Strong
JoAnne (Jo) Lee Strong, 78, was born April 29, 1945, in Denver, Colorado, and passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, great nana, retired nurse, and homemaker extraordinaire.
Jo loved her family unconditionally, always baking up delicious care packages with gigantic monster cookies or creating beautiful quilts to keep us warm and cozy.
Spending quality time with family was her favorite thing to do, especially with her grandchildren. She was easily lovable to those who met her. Her quick wit made us laugh in an instant, even in the hardest of times.
Jo loved the outdoors, whether fishing or spending time with her farm animals, especially in her younger days. She was always up for a new adventure, especially to Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Georgia, where she was able to experience the history she loved. Jo was an avid reader, could quickly solve word puzzles, and she dabbled in various writing. She also enjoyed baseball and especially loved the Seattle Mariners and Lewis-Clark State College, going to their games or watching the teams in the comfort of her home.
Jo is survived by her 3 daughters: Michelle Heuett-Fluckiger (Kirby), Sherry Platt, and Meliny Gonzalez; 9 grandchildren: Johnny (Carla), Justin, Krystal, Anne-Marie, Nick, Shannon (Paul), KayLynne, Ky-lee, and Jacob; 10 great-grandchildren: Madi, Aiden, Caleb, Zander, Joseph, J.J., Amirra, Kaisen, Elle-Mae, and James; 3 stepchildren: Russell Strong (Olga), Sherry Strong-Mccallum (Tim), Scott Strong; 6 step- grandchildren: Garrik, Kimberly, Devin, Payton, Kaelynn, Justin (Brooke); and 3 great step-grandchildren: Reina, Kenway, and Zaydyn. Jo was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 26 years, John Strong, and her grandson, Joe.
A celebration of life will be held at Mountlake Church, 23302 56th Avenue West, Mountlake Terrace, WA, on January 13, 2024, at 2 pm, with a reception to follow. Flowers can be sent directly to her life celebration.
