Obituary of Joseph Francis Callahan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Callahan on January 27, 2024.  He leaves behind his children (Rose, Josh, Pat), grandchildren (Lulu, Kevin, Ava), sisters and brother (David, Kathy, Kelly and Spring), long-time girlfriend (Patty), extended family and literally hundreds of friends across the country and indeed, the world.  If you met Joe, you remembered him.  Funny, moody, opinionated, deep, outrageous, sensitive, ridiculous, tough, loyal and protective.  He was true to himself and true to his friends.

He could do a 1000 voices and characters - you never knew which one you were going to get but they were always spot on and hilarious.  He rode a Harley.  He loved the Stones, knew all the words Zappa ever wrote, cried along with George Jones and thought Dolly Parton had the voice of an angel.  He was a walking musical encyclopedia.  He loved a good party, a pig roast, a cheese steak, a camping trip with his people, family holiday dinners, philosophizing beside a fire.  He liked a cold beer, a toke and a camel.

Joe was born in Miami Beach, Florida on June 14, 1960.  He grew up in Greenwich, Ohio and ended up settling in Seattle in his early 20s. He always called Ohio home but felt like a Seattle native.  He had an east coast attitude with a left coast soul.

We're glad we had him for as long as we did.  We are heartbroken that he's gone.  Goodbye Joe, Dad, Wally, Grandpa, Joseph, Jofish, Joe-Boy.  We love you and life will never be the same without you.
