Patrick Bazick

Obituary of Patrick John Bazick

Patrick John "Rick" Bazick passed away suddenly on February 29, 2024 in Edmonds, Washington, surrounded by family.  He was born on July 22, 1955 to Joseph Bazick and Ingetraud Muller in Corona, California.  Rick’s humility and dislike of personal attention would mean that we never got to share such a tribute before, but here goes:

Rick truly was an impressive example of a lifelong civil servant to America and to his fellow man.  From his earliest days bagging groceries and peeling potatoes as an "Army brat," serving in the United States Army, and rising through the ranks of the U.S. Federal Government, Rick accepted countless moves throughout the United States and Europe.  These dozens of relocations allowed a smart man from meager beginnings to acquire an extensive knowledge of the world and a love of different cultures.  A chance encounter in Miami led Rick to fall in love with his wife Gregoria "Carmela" Bazick at first sight; they subsequently married, traveled together, and supported each other for 43 years.  He worked extremely hard so that his daughters could obtain the education and dreams that were out of his reach.  Rick retired as Field Director, Accounts Management (North Andover, MA) with the Internal Revenue Service in 2015.  Though illness limited his mobility in his later years, he continued to look after his grandchildren, read extensively, care for his yard and the backyard wildlife, and to keep in touch with family and friends across the world.  Rick kept his inner life private but he held a deep abiding faith in God, he cared deeply for his

family and friends, and he especially loved nature in all its forms.

Rick is survived by his wife Gregoria del Carmen, brother Ken Bazick (Laurie), daughter Dr. Heidi Bazick Cuschieri (Dr. Justin Cuschieri), daughter Dr. Jessica Bazick (Dr. Andrew Chen), grandchildren Andrew, Theodore, Liliana, and Winona, and loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and family across the United States and Mexico.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 1 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (Bothell, WA) at 9:00 AM, with interment to follow at Holyrood Cemetery (Shoreline, WA); all are welcome to attend.  In lieu of flowers, as Rick would say, “Please, SAVE YOUR MONEY!” Send a line or two of memories to Heidi.bazick@gmail.com or c/o Heidi Bazick Cuschieri, P.O. Box 3003, Edmonds, WA 98020.  The family would be greatly appreciative for these and for your prayers.
