Obituary of Winifred Ann Tissot

Winifred Ann Barnett Tissot (Mom, Winnie, or Tutor to those close to her) passed away after a long and wonderful life on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the age of 88.

 

Winifred was born to Robert and Louise Barnett on July 28, 1936, in Birmingham, Alabama.  After her family relocated to Beaumont, Texas in 1954.  Winifred attended Beaumont High School and graduated in 1955.

 

After High School, Winifred eventually made her way to Moses Lake, Washington and from there to Edmonds, Washington, where she lived the last 58 years of her life in the same house on 8th Avenue.

 

Winnie was known for her wit, humor and stylish clothing.  She curated a vast collection of scarves, shoes and Jewelry so she could always assemble the perfect outfit for any outing.  Winnie was always quick with a clever southern euphemism when she thought the occasion called for it.  Family and friends know these well, as we heard them often.

 

Winifred was a skilled and avid gardener and won several community awards for her yard and beautiful flower pots.  She also enjoyed researching family genealogy and volunteered her time at the Edmonds Genealogical Society. Among her other interest, Winnie spent time at the gym doing Yoga and Zumba with friends.

 

Winifred worked for Honeywell Marine Systems for the majority of her adult working life. Her last position was managing the Honeywell Federal Credit Union, a position she held until her retirement in 1998.

 

Winifred was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, James Barnet, and daughter Elisa Tissot.

 

She is survived by her husband of close to 50 years, Gary Pierre Tissot, her oldest brother, Robert Barnet, and her sons David Crockett (Lela), Robert Crockett (Lauri) and Sean Tissot (Merry). Winnie had 6 grandsons, Blake Crockett, Davy Crockett (Haley), Mackenzie Crockett (Sydney), Kristopher Crockett, Gage Crockett, Quinton Tissot, and granddaughter Julie Birkelo.  Winifred was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren, Indie, Ellis, Callie, and Phoebe.

 

Winnie will be buried at a Private Family Graveside at Becks Restlawn Burial and Cremation Gardens in Edmonds, Washington.
