In the short time I was privileged to know Rene I knew I was in the presence of a kind and gracious lady. She was the epitome of grace in the face of adversity and her positive attitude was a joy to behold. She always had faith that things would work out the way they were supposed to - she taught us all a life lesson in patience and in fighting the good fight. I know that the moment she turned from us into the arms of the angels that Heaven became a better place.

Where do I begin, I have know Rene since I was 16 years old, I was Lisa and Kelly's babysiterr/nanay. I Went to Lake Chelan with the family on vacation, stayed with the kids for a few days while she and Mike took vacations, and later on I worked for them when the purchased the Candee Corn Shop. We all know how much Rene loved gardening. Ill always cherish the wonderful memories of sitting with her in the most amazing gardens. Gardens she created where ever she lived. She always had fresh cut flowers in her home; displayed with her own unique flair. I feel most fortunate that in May of 2007, we were able to fulfill our lifetime dream of traveling to London, England to attend the Chelsea flower show together.I admired her warmth, compassion and intelligence. She lived her life to its fullest. She also taught me how to face the end of ones life with grace, dignity and courage. She was the one I shared so many good times with and the one I turned to during the bad times. She was my best friend.I think it was Carl Jung that said that from the time we come into the world; we continually seek "Our Tribe". The day I met Rene; I knew that we were part of the same tribe. She often said we were Sisters of the Heart. I will hold her in my heart forever and I will think of her often.

I first met Rene' when she was expecting Lisa. I was a couple years younger than Rene' but we became very good friends, like family. I babyset Lisa from the time she was 3 months old until about 3. In return Lisa babyset my children when they were little. Rene' was a true friend in every sense. She had a beautiful smile that always warmed my heart. No matter how long we would go without seeing each it was always so easy to catch up with our pasts. I will miss her!! Love to Mike, Lisa & Kelly.

I have many precious memories of all the times when Rene and Mike visited us in Plain Dealing. She was a true friend and soul mate. My favorite memory, I suppose, is the New Year's Eve we spent in New York City when 1979 turned to 1980, a new decade. We really rang it in, watching the ball in Times Square, then taking a carriage ride in Central Park--with Mary and David and Hugh Scott. What a wonderful time. I will miss Rene and remember her always.

At the celebration of her life I chose words written more than 2500 years ago by a Chinese scholar:"Knowing others is wisdom, knowing the self is enlightenment. Mastering others requires force, mastering the self needs strength. She who knows she has enough, is rich. Perseverance is a sign of willpower, she who stays where she is, endures. To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.Rene' will be eternally present in us all.Thank you for the gift of love you gave me.

Today, we celebrated Rene's life... With tears and laughter. It was such a privilege to be in a room with so many people who's lives she had touched. Rene' knew how to reach out, find a friend and keep a friend. She found goodness and grace in all of us. She lived in the moment and loved her life and time with us. With her determination, love and compassion, she gave each of us a gift. I will celeberate her with a smile and know that I was blessed to have the time we shared.
